Renovation Translation: Party Wall Agreement

A party wall agreement is a legal document that may be required when building work affects a shared wall or boundary between neighbouring properties.

You may need one if you are:• building an extension close to a boundary• carrying out work on a shared wall• excavating near a neighbouring property

The agreement sets out how the work will be carried out and helps protect both homeowners if any issues arise.

Not all projects require a party wall agreement, but it is important to establish this before work begins. Renovation
